Lessons
Introduction
Every student riding our horses must take at least one introductory lesson, regardless of experience level. These lessons are meant to be a “getting to know you” lesson for everyone involved (including the horse). The instructor will be with you every step of the way, and instruct you on the basics of working around and interacting with horses. Topics covered include: grooming, leading, tying, tacking/untacking, mounting your horse. You’ll get to know your instructor as well as your horse. We don’t pressure students to ride or interact with the horses if they don’t feel comfortable - we move at your pace. Until you’re ready your horse will be lead by the instructor by a lead line.
This lesson is also a good time to figure out if horses are something you’re comfortable with at all. Some people find horses a bit intimidating once they get up close, and would rather not continue. This is completely fine and part of the reason we do these introduction periods.
Independent Beginners
As your skill level and confidence improves, your instructor will give you more freedom and allow you to interact with your horse independently. You will lead, groom and tack your horse on your own (your instructor will of course be available to assist). You will control your horse yourself, and learn the basics of horsemanship. As your skills progress further, you may find you wish to work towards particular goals (e.g. competiton, cow work, trail and obstacles.).
Family Sessions
We can accommodate small groups and families, and welcome you to take lessons together. It’s a great experience for everyone, parents and kids. You’ll have a blast and make memories that last a lifetime. Even if you don’t plan to continue, we would love to have you come out!
Advanced Students & Outside Horses
We also take students who own their own horses. If you would like lessons in barrel racing, poles, or would just like to work on your horsemanship we can provide focused lessons based on your needs..
